Colorado Womens Basketball Team Secures NCAA Tournament Spot, Ready to Face Illinois
The Colorado womens basketball team has earned a spot in the NCAA tournament as the tenth seed in the Fort Worth region. They will face seventh-seeded Illinois on Saturday at 7:30 PM MT on ESPN2 in Nashville. This is a significant moment for many players, as most of the team is experiencing March Madness for the first time.
While only three players have previous tournament experience, standouts like junior Zyanna Walker and guard Claire OConnor bring veteran know-how. Walker has been to three different tournaments, including deep runs at Louisville and Kansas State. OConnor has one prior appearance, while Kennedy Sanders was on Colorados team two years ago but sat out injured.
Colorado went seven and six against other tournament teams this season, while Illinois struggled at four and ten. Coach Payne will receive a $25,000 bonus for qualifying, with an additional $30,000 if they beat Illinois.
