216. Shereen Lim, DDS - Breathe, Sleep, Thrive: Preventing OSA
I'm a dentist with a special interest in helping children overcome challenges with infant feeding, swallowing, breathing, chewing, and speech. I do this through a collaborative team approach to tongue tie management, and promoting good oral function and good jaw development. When oral function and jaw development is off track in childhood, it affects the way our airway develops and works, and the way we breathe, sleep and grow. Getting to the root of poor oral function and jaw development when there are functional problems, ultimately promotes better airway health, breathing, and sleep, which in turn unlocks greater health and wellness for life. Most of what I do today was not taught to me in dental school, and it came from learning from many different perspectives, and world leading experts in their fields. Follow my journey connecting dots, to offer a holistic and integrative team approach to care, and my commitment to advancing collaboration between professions to serve patients beyond Sparkle better.

Meet Tess Zigo, CFP, CPA olsenna.com Olsen Facebook Olsen Instagram Olsen Linkedin Olsen Youtube https://www.oneplacecapital.com/ Follow @dental_digest_podcast Instagram Follow @dr.melissa_seibert on Instagram Connect with Melissa on Linkedin I obtained my B.S. in Finance from Northern Illinois University, and later returned to get my M.A.S in Accounting Science and my CPA after the company I worked for filed for bankruptcy during the 2008 recession. That experience taugh me a valuable lesson in being aware of concentration risk since our 401(k) match was in company stock. I started investing on my own at 20 and it's been one of the most rewarding and empowering areas in my life- seeing the results of compound interest in over a decade gives you a great level of confidence and financial flexibility to pursue your passions in life. I spent almost a decade in corporate finance and decided to become a Financial Advisor to help others who want financial independence and individualized guidance when it comes to their money. I obtained my CFP® designation in 2018 and actively study all topics related to personal finance that affect not only my clients but also my family's finances. I'm a self proclaimed money nerd! In my spare time you can find me at the beach, with my kids and husband living my best life. I also love to drink coffee (it's a habit I developed in college cramming for my exams), cooking (I love experimenting with recipes and ethnic food-currently on an Indian curry binge), listening to podcasts (mostly personal development or personal finance related) and traveling with my family. My dad is a retired surgeon and my mom is a retired teacher/musician and Daycare center owner. I attribute this fact to my ability to be both a logical thinker and a creative-I believe Financial Planning is part Art, part Science and luckily I got a little of both genes. I grew up in Bulgaria in Eastern Europe- we didn't have a lot of money growing up, however we did openly discussion our family's finances at the dinner table-so I never shy away from money conversations. I lived in Botswana Africa where my parents started a daycare business-I was very involved with helping them grow the business-and those formative experiences influenced me to want to be a business owner. I immigrated to the US in 2002 in pursuit of the "American dream" and truly believe our country has more opportunities for those seeking to risk it all in the pursuit of a Truly Wealthy Life. So whether you're feeling stuck in your career or already found your dream career/business but just unsure how to manage your money, let's talk!

168. Dennis Wells, DDS - Prepless Veneers
Follow @dental_digest_podcast Instagram Follow @dr.melissa_seibert on Instagram Connect with Melissa on Linkedin Though he does so much in memory of his oldest son, he's also very proud of his two younger sons, Landon (8) and Luke (7). Family is vital to him, and he and his wife Doris enjoy their life in Nashville. With two sons yet to raise, you can also find Dr. Wells giving back by coaching his sons and other kids at various sports. "Our family spends a lot of time on the ball fields," he says. He also wants us to know the unsung heroes of the Gift of Music Committee: "The Gift of Music Committee consists of: Tony Conway, Ed Hardy, Deb Ham, Rondal Richardson, Ronna Rubin and Jonah Rabinowitz (director of the W.O. Smith School of Music). The foundation and benefit concert has moved far beyond me, and I am so pleased to see it have a life of its own. I know Dustin would be pleased to see the good that is coming from his life, and I am simply grateful for the love that surrounds me and my family." When Dr. Dennis Wells lost his oldest son, a music major at Belmont University, he was heartbroken. He knew he had to do something to honorDustin's memory and celebrate both his young life and love of music. "The lyrics 'I get by with a little help from my friends' come to mind when I think back to the beginning of the Dustin J. Wells Foundation," Wells tells us. "Losing my oldest son was utterly devastating, and for the longest time, I struggled to just exist. However, some of my close friends were diligently searching for ways to help me cope with my loss, and generous people responded with acts of kindness, including over $50,000 in donations toward a fund set up in Dustin's memory. I knew I had a responsibility to honor Dustin and to use those funds in a positive way. Through a national dental organization, the Crown Council, directed by Greg and Steve Anderson, the idea came to have a benefit concert and donate the proceeds to the W.O. Smith School of Music. The Crown Council's annual meeting fell in Nashville within a year of Dustin's death. Calling on some of our dear friends and patients to perform, the Crown Council filled theWildhorse saloon for an emotional night of music and celebration and the Gift of Music event was born." The result has been extraordinary, a partnership between the Foundation and the W.O. Smith School of Music. The school provides opportunity for the city's children to study music, regardless of their socioeconomic backgrounds. Dr.Wells says his son loved kids and truly enjoyed his time as a counsellor at his church camp, and would have loved the connection with W.O. Smith. Wells still maintains an active role in the organization, providing vision for the Foundation and for the now-annual Gift of Music Concert, which has featured a host of major stars over the past few years. Now, he's looking at ways they can take the model of the Gift of Music and share it with other communities through the Crown Council—a nationwide organization of distinguished dentists. "We're always exploring ways to make the Gift ofMusic a more magical night, as well as how we can generate more revenue for the school," saysWells. "In 2013 we'll have the show at the Ryman Auditorium for the first time and will once again have the Crown Council attending. We're also exploring using it as a template for other cities and spreading this template through the Crown Council. In fact, some of the students from the school will be performing in January 2012 for the Crown Council in Vegas with hopes that it will inspire other dentists to bring this concept to their respective cities."
