È il 1995 quando Matteucci viene preso ed inizia a confessare tutti i suoi delitti agli inquirenti che rimangono sbalorditi. Nei mesi seguenti però, mentre il processo si avvicina, Matteucci ritratta, negando di essere il mostro di Aosta. A questo punto la palla passa ai giudici che, dopo un processo lungo e doloroso, devono decidere se condannare o meno l’imputato.
