Dekmantel Podcast 010 - Ø [Phase]

Somehow we are already at number ten in our podcast series. This one is yet another special offering and it comes from Ø [Phase], aka Ashley Burchett. Burchett is a UK techno legend who has been doing his do for the past fifteen years. He has released most of his work on the Token label and it includes immersive full lengths such as Frames of Reference as well as tens of hugely consistent and always excellent EPs that go far beyond simple floor fodder. Atmosphere and tension, hypnotism and efficient sonic economy all characterise his singular output. Clocking in at just under 75 minutes, this one is for the heads: it starts off in supple, subliminal techno territory with distant drones and rubbery synths working you into a hypnotic state and then gradually unfolds through many different textures. Always rooted to a seductive and repetitive kick, this is a masterclass in control and restraint, in tension and balance, and it will keep you locked for the thrilling duration as a result.
