Ep 13JTE Mix Tape
In an alternate reality version of 2020, we might have spent damn near the entire episode celebrating the 45th anniversary of Bruce Springsteen's Born To Run. Unfortunately, the 2020 we did get continues to kick us in the collective 'nards, then laugh as we gasp for breath. This week alone, marked by senseless acts of police brutality & vigilante violence in Kenosha, and the RNC's funhouse mirror spin on reality, was nothing short of horrifically surreal. The cherry atop the sundae of suck dropped on Sunday with the untimely passing of insanely talented 38-year old singer / songwriter Justin Townes Earle. No, wait...as I type this the news just broke that Chadwick Boseman died. No! Not T'Challa! Rest in power, fellas. We honor the late JTE this week with our extended 25-song mix tape. As we flip the tape, we take a brief intermission to spend a little quality time with the superlative new record from world-class interpreter of song, Bettye LaVette. Then we bookend the whole damn affair with a couple iconic moments from the aforementioned 45-year old classic album. All this & much, much less! The show started in 2003 at WHFR-FM (Dearborn, MI), moved to WGWG-FM (Boiling Springs, NC) in 2006 & Plaza Midwood Community Radio (Charlotte, NC) in 2012, with a brief pit-stop at WLFM-FM (Appleton, WI) in 2004.

Ep 9Who's That Little Pile of Smiles?
On this week's show, we treat you to a preview of the new Lemon Twigs record, offer an overview of the sorely underrated Los Lobos side hustle known as Latin Playboys, whet your musical appetite with a sampling of PJ Harvey's Dry demos, and chill with a trio called Muzz. All this & much, much less! Debts No Honest Man Can Pay is over 2 rock-solid hours of musical eclectica & other noodle stories. Ep 8A Fairly Festive Feast
As a young man of few dollars & even fewer means, my friends & I would sometimes pool our meager resources together when things looked bleak. What we managed to scrape together would result in a surprisingly festive feast, an impromptu party, or some other damn magical celebration of surviving another day of being young & broke. That's kindasorta how I felt when putting together this week's show. There were no new releases this week so I felt compelled to explore, and I drew a total blank. But wait! What's this? An awesome new Lydia Loveless single just dropped (check out the super-fun video for "Love Is Not Enough"). That changes everything! I looked around & saw there were other new songs from forthcoming records by artists I dig. Okay.... now we're getting somewhere.Where to next?I'd been seeing a lot of articles online about queer country. I'd totally dropped the ball about doing anything on the show to celebrate Pride Month. Many of these artists are artists I already like. Here's a chance to explore an exciting & important musical movement that's been slowly building up over the years.Okay, now we're cooking! Waitaminute! I just remembered we've yet to spend quality time with the new Jayhawks record. We are getting there. Cap it off with a fistful of tracks that were in heavy rotation during our first year as a mere mortal terrestrial radio show. Next thing you know, I'm standing in front of what I'd seen previously as a bare cupboard, looking now at the makings of a fairly festive feast. Enjoy! Debts No Honest Man Can Pay is over 2 rock-solid hours of musical eclectica & other noodle stories.

Ep 7A Three-Act Play Without The Drama
On this week's show, we proudly present an extended preview of The Replacements' Pleased to Meet Me Deluxe Edition box set, dig into the new record from Detroit's post-punk powerhouse Protomartyr, dig some hypnotic new grooves from the second collaborative summit of Ethio-jazz godfather Mulatu Astatke & Australian Ethio-jazz-hip-hop-funk octet Black Jesus Experience, and make good on our long-standing threat to play a 20-minute song from one of our favorite paisley underground bands. All this & much, much less! Debts No Honest Man Can Pay is 2 rock-solid hours of musical eclectica & other noodle stories.

Ep 6Morricone, Margo & Me

All this & much, much less! Debts No Honest Man Can Pay is 2 rock-solid hours of musical eclectica & other noodle stories.

Ep 5Summer Jam Sandwich
Enjoy an extended set of summer jams, sandwiched between some night music from the official unofficial house band of summer, and some other pretty chill grooves. All this & much, much less! Debts No Honest Man Can Pay is 2 rock-solid hours of musical eclectica & other noodle stories.

We bear witness to the triumphant return of Kathleen Edwards & Orville Peck's leap from indie to major label. Plus, we get a glimpse of how 1975 could have been a very different year for Neil Young. All this & much, much less! Debts No Honest Man Can Pay is 2 rock-solid hours of musical eclectica & other noodle stories.

Ep 2It's Gonna Be A Long Walk Home
The world's been turned upside down by the Thanos-snap of COVID-19, the president continues to defy logic & good sense at every turn, and the horrific & inexcusable death of George Floyd reverberates throughout the world with a louder-than-ever dialogue about police brutality, police reform & systemic racism that will hopefully bring about some long overdue change. It's gonna be a long walk home from all of this, but nobody has to go it alone. With that in mind, we spin songs of protest, songs of unrest & songs of revolution on this week's show from The Isley Brothers, Bob Mould, Public Enemy, Lucinda Williams, Tom Morello, Bruce Springsteen, Mavis Staples & Bob Dylan, among others. We also spend quality time with the brand new Run The Jewels record. All this & much, much less! Debts No Honest Man Can Pay is 2 rock-solid hours of musical eclectica & other noodle stories.

Ep 1The Last Episode at PMCR
This episode found us spending quality time with new records from Chicano Batman & Damien Jurado, as well as the first record in 13 years from Devil Doll. PLUS.... We gave away mad prizes. All this & much, much less! The episode was scheduled to air on 5/2/20, but tech issues at our previous radio home (Plaza Midwood Community Radio - a Charlotte-based grassroots internet radio station) prevented us from doing so. Unfortunately, the station shut down less than a week later. Aside from a handful of friends I shared this with, it has gone largely unheard. Enjoy this - our last PMCR episode as a sort of preview of things to come. Oh, and yeah, the prizes? We actually did give them away on our facebook page. Debts No Honest Man Can Pay is 2 rock-solid hours of musical eclectica & other noodle stories.
