New COVID Variant BA.3.2 Detected in US: CDC Confirms
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has identified a new COVID variant, BA.3.2, in the United States. Originating in South Africa, it has since spread to 23 countries, including the US. The variant, a descendant of Omicron, may offer less protection from current vaccines targeting JN.1 subvariants. However, its not causing surges or dominating other variants. Detection has been found in multiple states, but health officials are not sounding major alarms yet.
