Retired Lieutenant Richard Rick Barth, a 44-year veteran of the Wayne County Sheriffs Office, passed away on March 4, 2026. Known for his dedication and lifesaving CPR skills, Barth served multiple generations of officers and earned deep respect. Before law enforcement, he served in the Air Force and worked at Lowes. In his personal life, he enjoyed Metallica, cooking, and Christmas. He is survived by family and friends, and donations can be made to Help the Animals, Incorporated in his honor. Visitation and funeral service are scheduled for March 12 at Riggle-Waltermann Mortuary in Richmond, Indiana.
