Civil rights icon Bernard LaFayette, a key figure in the Voting Rights Act, has passed away at 85. Co-founder of SNCC, he led nonviolent protests in Nashville, Freedom Rides, and voter registration in Selma. Surviving an attack, he chose peace. Later, he coordinated MLKs SCLC and led American Baptist College. His life exemplified courage and love, inspiring nonviolent activism today.
