Consumer spending is the economic engine for the US economy and they appear to be in good shape. The Bureau of Economic Analysis reported that consumer spending has increased 0.8% year over year in July and above expectation of 0.7%. Consumer spending represents 66% of the US GDP and the future of the economy is dependent on consumers continuing to spend even with higher interest rates.
