Action is heating up all the more as summer approaches and the NCAA transfer portal for spring 2023 closes July 1. Mississippi State is actively, make that aggressively pursuing more available college players ahead of the looming deadline to go with those already committed or signed. The trick for Chris Lemonis is figuring how many more because the draft isn’t until July 17 and several current Dogs won’t decide their plans until after selection. Or not. Omaha is underway and we aren’t there but portal recruiting is key to getting back in the greatest show on dirt. So it is also for football. Mike Leach is looking for portal additions who can play in 2023 but more immediately is hosting prospects on June weekends. Offers are flying fast from the football office and commitments are coming in too.
