A loss at South Carolina doesn't end the season but does make the post-season a fainter hope for Mississippi State, and raises the temperature another notch regarding Ben Howland's status with the Bulldogs. Also, the Diamond Dogs are back in action this weekend against Northern Kentucky with a weather threat to watch.

Mississippi State's midweek loss at South Carolina means the Bulldogs must win two of the remaining SEC games to break-even in league play. The 20-win benchmark will require success at the SEC Tournament, too, which is weighing heavily now into Ben Howland's future with the program. It's assumed if there is no NCAA Tournament bid then year-seven is his last in Starkville, which already is sparking hot board talk on Genespage.com about replacements. At the end, we talk briefly about Bulldog baseball, their weekend series, and potential weather changes.
