Football practicing begins for Mississippi State this Friday morning, with a mostly-veteran offense on one side and some real camp competition for a number of defensive jobs on the other.

Mississippi State starts practicing for the 2023 season Friday morning. First-fall camp Coach Zach Arnett and coordinators will plug some summer pieces into their spring camp lineups. On offense the only serious questions come at the new tight end position. There are more and larger questions for a defense that brings back the core interior line and linebackers but must re-fill edge and outside spots with play makers. All three safety spots are, probably, up for August grabs. And Mississippi State will again rely on a transfer placekicker coming from the portal. Meanwhile Bulldog basketball rolled in the three games of their Portugal tour with a fine balance of offense and defense that bodes well for winter.
