Direct payments to NCAA student-athletes can begin Tuesday, the same date the baseball transfer portal closes. Brian O'Connor has 13 transfers lined up already and awaits word from a couple more. Ace Reese is subject of Mississippi State consternation ahead of portal deadline. Jeff Lebby has 23 commitments for his 2026 signing class but there will be many an addition and subtraction between now and December.
