Der Geiger Zoltán Székely hatte bei Bartók ein klassisches Konzert in Auftrag gegeben. Béla Bartók aber hatte ein größeres Variationswerk im Sinn. Letztendlich fand er dann zu einem Kompromiss. Ilona Hanning stellt Bartóks Zweites Violinkonzert zusammen mit dem Geiger Christian Tetzlaff vor.
