07.09.1837: "Soweit wie das Eis es erlaubt", sollte er fahren, Richtung Südpol, verlangte der französische König Louis-Philippe von seinem Entdecker Jules Dumont d´Urville. Am 7. September 1837 ging die Fahrt los. Entdeckt hat d´Urville Eiswüsten und Pinguine, die er nach seiner Frau Adèle benannte - Adeliepinguine im Adelieland.
