It is illegal in Islam to raise a dog without need or keep it at home.

عَنْ أَبِي طَلْحَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ،قَالَ:
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ
لَا تَدْخُلُ الْمَلَائِكَةُ بَيْتًا فِيهِ كَلْبٌ وَلَا صُورَةٌ .
*نبی کریمﷺ کا فرمان*
( رحمت کے ) فرشتے ان گھروں میں
نہیں داخل ہوتے جن میں کتا یا
( جاندار کی ) تصویر ہو ۔
*عنوان*
بغیر ضرورت کے کتا پالنا یا گھر
میں رکھنا نا جائز ہے
