The Stockdale family was featured on an episode of the TV show Wife Swap in 2008. Viewers were disturbed at the strict and extreme nature of the Stockdale family lifestyle but what we saw on the show was just the tip of the iceberg. Later on, Jacob Stockdale would go on to murder his family members leaving a thousand questions as to how and why this happened.

The episode of Wife Swap that caught national attention is called Stockdale/Tonkovich and features two families with very different lifestyles. The Stockdale family is religious, to the extreme and the Tonkovich family is atheist and lives a very laid back lifestyle. Some people found the extreme nature of the Stockdale lifestyle disturbing but no one could predict what would happen years later when Jacob Stockdale, then 25 years old, took a gun and murdered his family members
