Cinnamon Brown was painted as a troubled teenager who shot and murdered her stepmother. She was convicted and sent to the California Youth Authority where she did her time. But then? Cinnamon matured and she began to speak, hinting that no one knew the whole story. Eventually, Cinnamon did tell the whole story and when she did, it shocked investigators, prosecutors and then the nation.

Linda Brown was a beautiful young mother married to David A. Brown. They had a newborn baby and living with them was Cinnamon Brown, David's teenaged daughter from a previous relationship. One morning the police were called to the Brown home. Linda Brown lay dead in her bed, murdered by a gunshot. Cinnamon Brown was lying unconscious in the doghouse located in the back yard.
