After a little bit of a hiatus for a few weeks, we're finally back. In this one, I disucussed DJ'ing the Tim Cappello show at Art Bar last weekend, and debuted a load of new releases. It's good to be back and keeping it spooky! This one was one of my faves of the year. The fundraiser shows allow us to temporarily suspend our non-Top 40 policy, so the reins came off and I was able to play loads of artists I normally wouldn't have been able to get away with. The theme for the week was "road trips", so all of the tracks pertained to road trips, destinations, and just traveling in general. Dig it! This one was a little bit of a swtich-up, with no new releases at all. Instead, I dragged out my old CD notebooks and dug into the vault at the station, and we took things back to the Batcave. I did work in a small themed set in the beginning though, dedicated to the passing of my sweet little cat Squeakers. This one was a fun one, because I skipped my usual process of planning the show out from beginning to end. Instead, in the first hour, I just winged it and used that time to throw on some of my favorite Batcave and other retro tracks. In the second hour, we worked in another set from the new compilation from Darkness Calling, 'Back from the Grave - Vol 2'. Finally, we honored a request with a short set of German artists, and I ended the show with a rant about how confusing Season 2 of Loki was. I still have no idea what the hell that was about! It was nice to be back after being off for a couple of weeks. With the exception of a few tracks here and there, the show was pretty much made up of entirely new releases. I was joined by a baby DJ in training, DJ Super Neo. In between sets, we discussed Stranger Things, Waffle House, and what hip-hop I should be listening to. It was fun to have a guest in, and I'll be looking forward to his own show when he gets one. I also discussed seeing The Mission, The Chameleons, and Theatre of Hate a couple of weeks ago, as well as my trip to Las Vegas last weekend. Dig it! Quick note: The fire alarm went off in the building as we were on air, so I had to fade out the last track and put the station in automation, as security asked us to leave the building. After it was all over, I came back in and hopped on the mic to explain what happened and wrap things up. In the final edit, I cut out all of the automated tracks, so apologies for the weird edit and abrupt ending to the show. This one was interesting. We only had 3 sets in the show, but we packed a lot into them. First, we had one made up of new releases from all over the place. Then, we did our usual Words of Wisdom set, and finished strong with a set made up somewhat new releases from one of my favorite labels, Swiss Dark Nights. Also, I basically caught a cold right before starting the show, and if you listen close, you can hear my voice deteriorate throughout the episode. The show aired on Saturday night, and by Munday morning, I was in bad shape and had completely lost my voice. As of this writing, it's Thursday. In the past week, I lost a day of work, went to the doctor, started antibiotics, and still haven't gotten over it. Hopefully, by this Saturday night, I'll have enough of a voice back to actually do the show, ha! This is the one it all leads up to, kids! We spent Halloween day in 1980-something! Imagine Halloween morning, afternoon, and evening as a kid. You wake up early and spend the day flipping through morning shows, news reports, commercials, the radio, daytime TV, and finally primetime TV, as you get ready to go out trick-or-treating. We collapsed that entire day's experiences into a two hour show. Oh, and best of all, we were joined by fan favorite mortician, and my bestie, DONNA PURGE! It was nice to be back on after taking a 3 week break, but that time was spent making some great memories. In this episode, I basically worked in the show that I was planning to do a few weeks ago, but couldn't because of a last minute access issue.
