S1 Ep 60A Comeback To Become One of The BIGGEST WINNERS In Online POKER History | "Jungleman" Dan Cates & Jonathan "Apestyles" Van Fleet

GTO Wizard - The best way to learn and practice GTO!Use this link to sign up: https://gtowizard.com/junglemanJon Van Fleet joined the Americas Cardroom team in early 2021. The Austin, Texas native is no stranger to the world of online poker. Jon made a name for himself during the original online poker boom of the 2000s under the nickname ‘apestyles.’ Just ask anyone who played online back in the day, and they’ll tell you all about his inimitable playing style. Jon started playing poker around the time fellow ACR Pro Chris Moneymaker conquered the WSOP Main Event in 2003. In those days, Jon mostly played for fun with his fellow Texas Tech students. After quickly growing a modest $3,000 to a respectable $70,000 bankroll, Van Fleet bet he could go pro. And with more than $4 Million in multi-table tournament profits to date and close to $17 Million in total lifetime cashes, it’s pretty clear ‘apestyles’ wagered correctly. With a poker career spanning close to two decades, Jon’s accomplishments are lengthy. Yet his most notable accomplishment was becoming the first-ever Partypoker Millions Champion. He walked away with $1,027,000 after crushing the $5 Million GTD online tournament back in 2017. Yet Van Fleet’s biography is by no means a sob story. Rather, it’s an inspirational tale about facing obstacles head-on, defying the odds, and overcoming adversity. With the help of his friends, the poker pro sought treatment. He now leads a healthy life that involves training, teaching, volunteering and playing poker. Van Fleet is also an accomplished writer and coach, having co-authored Winning Poker Tournaments One Hand at a Time. The popular three-volume book series has been called a masterclass in poker skill development. He also hosts online seminars on the game. Here is what you can expect on this week's show: 0:00 Introduction 1:41 Real men wear pink and being bullied 5:11 Choosing right in the big spots at the table 8:23 Addiction - drugs are bad 12:28 Seeing things as they are 15:18 Rehab 19:58 A VERY BAD bluff call 24:26 Upswings and finding poker - secrets to success 33:58 Secrets to a comeback - healthy living and sleep 38:56 Authoring, teaching poker, and holding seminars ▬ Winning the Game of Life ▬▬▬▬▬▬ Check out other "Winning the Game of Life" episodes: ► https://www.youtube.com/c/WinningTheGameofLife Connect with Jonathan "Apestyles" Van Fleet: Twitter: @apestyles Instagram: @apestyles1 Twitch: @apestylespoker Follow "Jungleman" Dan Cates on social: Websites: https://www.wtgol.com Instagram: @wtgolpodcast @thedancates Twitter: @junglemandan Poker strategy tips Poker tournament highlights Poker player profiles Poker player rankings Poker coaching Poker mental game

S1 Ep 50Italy's Craziest Poker Player? | "Jungleman" Dan Cates and Mustapha Kanit

GTO Wizard - The best way to learn and practice GTO!Use this link to sign up: https://gtowizard.com/junglemanFor Mustapha Kanit, the encounter with poker was made during adolescence. From as early as ten years old, the Italian-Moroccan was already passionate about another major 21st century card game - Magic: The Gathering: After an invite to a poker game from his friends where Mustapha beat them hands down, he was hooked. Mustapha packed his bags and tested Europe's poker destinations at a very young age, winning his first successes in Malta, Barcelona, Madrid and Cannes; better still, the one who had been a rather shy teen discovered his true nature at the table, one of a jovial competitor, curious of others, not lacking in the right words, a catalyst for lots of laughter. His victory in Nova Gorica's Italian Poker Tour tournament in March 2011 made him known to players in his own country, before the European pros discovered his talent six months later, in the Partouche Poker Tour final. But it must not be believed that Mustapha ascended to the heights without any pitfalls. After losing everything at 21, undiscouraged, Mustapha held his head high and continued the work of learning. It was also at this point that he was be transformed into a real specialist in multi-table tournaments. Mustapha's work was soon to bear fruit: his creativity developed at the tables, and the results made his bankroll swell again. Then came 2015, the most successful year of his young career (until now!), the one that was to see him plant his flag on the summits of professional poker. Over the course of 12 magical months, Mustapha was to win two of the biggest online poker tournaments, the SCOOP and the FTOPS, for a total of $1.5 million, and then triumph at Monte Carlo in one of the most difficult tournaments of the year, the Super High Roller, at €50,000, and win the Barcelona EPT High Roller three months later. One year later, in April 2016, Mustapha repeated his success with Monte Carlo's Super High Roller, with an entry price doubled to €100,000, adding another €1.462 million to an already very profitable track record. By the time of becoming the first Italian pro on team Winamax, Mustapha Kanit was already firmly established in the very closed circle of high rollers. Nine years after his debut, the jovial Mustapha leads his country's players in the Hall of Fame, having surpassed the $9 million profit threshold in his live career in 2017, to which more than $4.5 million won online must be added. He belongs to a rare species: that of players very difficult to beat, but, when arriving at the table, still welcomed with pleasure.
