Dallas Stars Acquire Michael Bunting from Nashville Predators

The Dallas Stars have made a strategic move by trading for forward Michael Bunting from the Nashville Predators. The Stars gave up a third-round draft pick from the 2026 draft to acquire Bunting, who has a $4.5 million cap hit and will become a free agent this summer.

Bunting, a 30-year-old, has shown strong offensive skills and physicality, scoring 13 goals and 31 points in 18 games this season. He has previously had two 20-goal seasons with the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Stars General Manager Jim Nill praised the move, highlighting Buntings scoring touch and physical edge. Bunting will join the Stars as a middle-six player, offering more offensive pop than typical depth players and potentially filling top-six gaps.

This acquisition appears to be a cost-effective upgrade over more expensive targets like Blake Coleman, and the Stars may have more deals in the works to strengthen their lineup for the remainder of the season.
