Show Notes
Navy Seaman First Class Clyde C. McMeans, a crew member of the USS California, has been officially accounted for eighty years after the Pearl Harbor attack. McMeans, a twenty-six-year-old from South Texas, was helping others escape in a motorboat when it was hit by a bomb. His remains were recovered and buried in Hawaii cemeteries, but he has now been identified through DNA testing. McMeans niece shared that the family has cherished his memory without knowing him. A funeral is set for May first at Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery in Corpus Christi, with full military honors.
