Show Notes
Texass new school choice program, Texas Education Freedom Accounts, saw an overwhelming response with over 274,000 students signing up. The deadline was extended due to drama and a federal judges intervention. Fort Worth Independent School District saw 4,803 applications, with Arlington and Keller following suit. Comptroller Kelly Hancock hailed it as a national record, with most applicants being white. Pre-K led the applications, but many were flagged as ineligible. Funding will prioritize low-income and disabled students, with a lottery for the rest. Notices will be sent out later this month.
