Kaye Dysart Thornton, a fourth-generation Texan and journalism graduate, passed away in 2026. She dedicated her life to advancing neuropathy research and left behind a legacy of service, including launching the Tandy Technology Scholars program and volunteering with various organizations. In retirement, she became known as the cake lady, baking and sharing over one hundred cakes a year. A memorial service was held for her on March 29, 2026.
