Dr. T.A. Sims, a pioneering African American educator and Fort Worth Independent School District board member, passed away at 88. He served for 35 years, becoming the first black president of the board. Known for advocating for students of color, Sims left a lasting impact, with T.A. Sims Elementary named after him. Visitation and funeral services are scheduled for April 10-11.
