Haltom City police have identified the victims and shooter in a tragic double homicide and suicide that occurred on March 27, 2026, outside Birdville Stadium. The victims were Raissa Thatukila, a 33-year-old mother, and her six-year-old daughter, Nathy Mbuyi. The suspect, John Mbuyi, was the father of Nathy and was involved in a heated custody battle with Raissa. John took his own life after the attack. Nathy was a kindergarten student at Cheney Hills Elementary in the Birdville school district. Police have confirmed that the incident was not random and that John had premeditated the attack. The community is grieving the loss of a young student and her mother.
