The watchdog group American Oversight has filed a lawsuit in Federal District Court in Washington seeking a judge’s order to preserve all of the Signal messages on the group chat of top Trump administration national security officials discussing this month’s military strikes on the Houthi rebels in Yemen. The Signal app has a function that automatically delete messages and the lawsuit was brought, it says, to compel the Trump officials to “fulfill their legal obligations to preserve and recover federal records created through unauthorized use of Signal for sensitive national security decision-making.”
