Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., on Thursday said he will vote to keep the government open after he told senators Democrats would unite to tank the Republican-backed spending plan.
"I believe it is my job to make the best choice for the country to minimize the harm to the American people. Therefore, I will vote to keep the government open and not shut it down," Schumer said on the Senate floor.
