Show Notes

Ellen Gilland, the elderly woman who fatally shot her terminally ill husband in his hospital room at AdventHealth in Daytona Beach, is expected to be sentenced this morning.

Gilland, who was 76 at the time of her arrest, pleaded no contest Dec. 31 to charges related to shooting. She has been free on $150,000 bond since March 3, 2023.

Gilland shot and killed her 77-year-old husband, Jerry, in his hospital room on Jan. 21, 2023, according to police. She then pointed the gun at a nurse and a hospital security officer, police said. She later fired the gun at least in the direction of police officers before she was arrested, according to testimony and reports.
