Psalm 34:18 — Prayer for Loneliness, Grief, the Empty Chair at Christmas and God’s Nearness to the Brokenhearted — “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” Revelation 21:4 — “He will wipe every tear from their eyes.” PRAYER Father, in the mighty name of Jesus, we lift before You every listener who feels the ache of absence tonight. Lord, You see the empty chair at the dinner table, the photo on the shelf, the quiet moments where grief washes over the heart. You see those facing Christmas without someone they love. You see the loneliness, the silent tears, the questions, the heaviness that settles in December’s long nights. Lord, draw near. Your Word declares that You are close to the brokenhearted — so let Your nearness become real and tangible. Wrap hearts in Your comfort. Bring warmth where there is coldness inside. Bring companionship where there is isolation. Bring hope where sorrow feels overwhelming. Heal memories that hurt to touch. Heal conversations that will never be had again. Heal the loneliness that comes when the world feels busy and the heart feels forgotten. Jesus, step into the quiet rooms, the empty spaces, the grieving moments. Let the Holy Spirit breathe peace into the soul. Remind every listener that they are not alone — heaven is near, love remains, and You carry them through every valley.
