Luke 11:1–4 Teaching Prayer – Lord, Teach Us to Pray
Daily Devotion for Today – Morning and Night Prayer Learning the Lord’s Prayer
Recorded Live in London, England with Reverend Ben Cooper
Scripture
“One day Jesus was praying in a certain place. When he finished, one of his disciples said to him, ‘Lord, teach us to pray, just as John taught his disciples.’ He said to them, ‘When you pray, say: Father, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come. Give us each day our daily bread. Forgive us our sins, for we also forgive everyone who sins against us. And lead us not into temptation.’” (Luke 11:1–4, NIV)

In Luke 11:1–4, the disciples ask Jesus a question that millions across the world are still asking today: “Lord, teach us to pray.” This is the foundation of Christian prayer. Recorded live in London, England with Reverend Ben Cooper, this three-to-five-minute teaching prayer podcast shows how Jesus not only prayed but also gave us a model we can use daily.
Jesus begins with worship: “Father, hallowed be your name.” Every prayer starts by honoring God. Then He moves to surrender: “Your kingdom come.” This is inviting God’s will into our lives. He then teaches dependence: “Give us each day our daily bread.” Prayer acknowledges our need for God’s provision. Next comes forgiveness: “Forgive us our sins, for we also forgive everyone who sins against us.” Finally, He ends with protection: “Lead us not into temptation.”
This prayer is not just to be recited but to be lived. It is a structure—worship, surrender, provision, forgiveness, protection—that we can follow every morning, every night, and in every daily devotion.
