1 Peter 4:12–13 — Faith Under Fire: Prayer for the Persecuted Church
“Dear friends, do not be surprised at the fiery ordeal that has come on you to test you, as though something strange were happening to you. But rejoice inasmuch as you participate in the sufferings of Christ, so that you may be overjoyed when his glory is revealed.” — 1 Peter 4:12–13 (NIV)

Across China, Iran, North Korea and Somalia, believers meet in secret, whispering the name of Jesus where faith is forbidden or watched. Many search quietly for “prayer for persecuted Christians,” “underground church,” and “courage to stand for Christ.” Scripture tells us these trials do not mean God has forgotten His people. In the fire, their faith is being refined and His glory is being revealed.
In hidden rooms, prison cells and quiet homes, followers of Jesus risk jobs, freedom and safety to stay loyal to Him. The world may not see them, but heaven does. Their courage strengthens the whole body of Christ. Their worship in the dark is as precious to God as any song in a crowded church.
Lord Jesus, we pray for Your persecuted church in China, Iran, North Korea, Somalia and every nation where faith in You is costly. Protect secret gatherings. Hide believers from those who seek to harm them. Strengthen prisoners of faith. Comfort families separated by persecution. Provide food, shelter and safe places to meet. Give boldness to pastors and house church leaders. Let Your word spread with power even in the hardest places.
Prayer focus: Pray for protection over underground and secret churches; pray for prisoners of faith to know the nearness of Christ; pray for courage, joy and endurance under pressure; pray for children growing up in fear to encounter the love of Jesus; pray for governments and authorities to be softened and changed by the gospel; thank God for the courage and faithfulness of persecuted believers.
Life application: Remember the persecuted church in your daily prayers. Ask God to make your own faith bold, steady and unashamed.
Declaration: Jesus is Lord over every persecuted believer. His glory will be revealed and His church will stand.
