斯洛伐克總理費柯（Robert Fico）5月15日遭遇槍擊，身中5槍，送醫急救後目前已無生命危險。槍手當場被捕，現已確認其身分為現年71歲的作家辛圖拉（Juraj Cintula）。
斯洛伐克總統及官員歸咎於國內仇恨言論四起、極化分裂的政治氛圍。現年59歲的費柯已是第二度回鍋擔任總理，他本人與他領導的聯合政府頗具爭議，不僅承諾停止對烏克蘭軍事支持，還表示將阻擋烏克蘭加入北約，同時也直接表態親俄立場。
然而全案仍在調查當中，當局雖然初步調查表示暗殺事件是出於「政治動機」，但詳情並未有具體說明。
