Many people were worried that AI would have a negative impact on the 2024 election by spreading false information. However, AI companies took steps to limit the spread of misinformation, such as recommending trusted news sources like the Associated Press. These efforts seem to have worked, as there were no major instances of AI-generated misinformation during the election. For example, an AI-generated image of Taylor Swift endorsing Donald Trump was quickly identified as fake. Some experts believe that there may have been some AI-generated misinformation that went undetected. AI companies are now working on improving their models so that they can better perform complex tasks, like reasoning and planning. This will require the development of new benchmarks to test the models' abilities.
