Show Notes

Dads, it’s time to level up our parenting game! In this episode with Christine Bright, we learn from the perspective of a woman, a mother, and a parenting and family coach about how we can make a difference in the lives of our children and our family‌. Christine is an acclaimed Therapeutic Foster Parent, author, and internationally Certified Parenting and Family Coach, whose clients include parents of children with violent and suicidal tendencies. She shares how words can make or break a child and leave an irreparable dent in their character formation. She highlights the need for change in the way society treats dads and the expectations set on us, especially in the eyes of our children. She argues that there are narratives that need to be questioned because they are teaching the audience the wrong ideas about fatherhood. So, dads, let’s break free from these misconceptions and re-learn our ways around fatherhood because this role, though HUGE, is also beautiful.

"Emotions don't need to be fixed, they just have to be acknowledged." - Christine Bright

In This Episode:

  • Christine puts emphasis on the fact that words do matter, particularly how those words are said

  • Humor is great until it is harmful
  • Understand the gravity of the narratives we choose to listen to and buy into
  • Wanting to fix "bad" emotions right away could cause more damage than ignoring emotions
  • To be an “influencer” in your home doesn't mean being “controlling” to others
  • Learn the pre-requisite of influence, and how allowing room for vulnerability is key in establishing this pre-requisite
  • Being a dad doesn’t mean being perfect
