Show Notes

As dads, we are in the best position to show our kids how they can make the most out of their lives. Whether we’re showing them the right way to do things or helping them avoid the mistakes we made when we were their age, we have the capacity to raise them as valuable members of society. One of the best ways to make this happen is through intentional encouragement.

But there are a lot of roadblocks that could make it hard to be encouraging parents. Some of us are too preoccupied and find it hard to be in the present. Others might find it hard to come up with something encouraging to say because they don’t know what encouragement looks like. The truth is, encouragement can be found everywhere, even in the simple, everyday things.

In this episode, Brian talks about how his own father set the best example through intentional encouragement and what steps we can take to do the same thing for our own kids.

“It’s one thing to beat our chest and hashtag ourselves to death with all this cool stuff. But if I’m hashtaggin’ it but not living it in front of my son, I’m a hypocrite.” - Brian Sexton
