In this episode of the Cylinder Radio podcast, Will speaks with Chloe Cole, a former trans boy who started transitioning at 13 and detransitioned back to her female gender at 16.
Chloe tells the heartbreaking story of her teenage years, how and why she came to identify as trans, when she started medically transitioning and the after effects of puberty blockers, testosterone and a mastectomy at 15 years of age.
Then she shares how she came to realize that in her case transitioning was the biggest mistake of her life, why she decided to go public with her story and why she thinks that we will see more and more 'detransitioners'.
Finally, Will and Chloe stress the importance of finding nuance within the transgender debate, highlighting that negative transition experiences like Chloe's should be able to be shared alongside the successful transition stories of other transgender individuals.
