Researchers from the University of Maryland Baltimore County have evaluated the support for post-quantum cryptography (PQC) in nine open-source cryptographic libraries, revealing a mixed landscape of preparedness. Some libraries, like wolfSSL/wolfCrypt, are leading with strong and early PQC support, while others, such as OpenSSL, are still in the process of integrating these algorithms. The study highlights the importance of transitioning to PQC due to the potential of quantum computers to break current public-key cryptosystems.
