On this week’s ’Cut to the Race’ podcast, Oli, Sam, Abby and Grace dissect the third round of the 2022 season as Formula One returns to Albert Park for the Australian Grand Prix.
Sebastian Vettel made his 2022 debut but it was not plain-sailing as over the whole weekend there was drama in every session from crashes to penalties to disqualifications. Free practices were unusually eventful in Australia, seeing Aston Martin have an unfortunate start to the weekend, which continued in Qualifying.
We review the build-up to the race, including key track changes, Daniel Ricciardo’s excitement at returning to his home race, and Charles Leclerc’s success that sees him break a record from 2012.
Ferrari had a mixed performance whilst Mercedes and McLaren bounced back with some good results, whilst Max Verstappen and Red Bull suffered issues they were hoping to avoid.
