Blizzard post-mortem: Was this Traverse City’s snowiest storm ever?

• The Ticker reports Traverse City’s National Weather Service co-op site measured 19.8 inches of snow from this week’s storm, making it one of the city’s biggest snow events on record.

• Meteorologist Mike Boguth told The Ticker that while this storm may rival past blizzards for snowfall totals, it did not match the historic 1978 storm for intensity or wind strength.

• The story also points to the broader takeaway for Northern Michigan: March can still deliver some of winter’s most severe weather because warm southern moisture can clash with lingering Arctic air.
