Pastor Tyler Anderson continues a “Church Without Walls” series in Acts 4:1–22, following the healing of a lame man in Acts 3 and Peter’s message about what Jesus’ name does. He explains that when the name of Jesus is challenged it will be opposed, as priests, the temple captain, and Sadducees arrest Peter and John for proclaiming Jesus’ resurrection, yet many believe and the number of men grows to about 5,000. Before the Jewish leaders, Peter—filled with the Holy Spirit—declares the man was healed by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom they crucified and God raised, and that salvation is found in no one else. The leaders recognize the apostles’ boldness and that they had been with Jesus, cannot deny the miracle, but command them not to speak in Jesus’ name; Peter and John refuse, and after further threats they are released.
