President Donald Trump is, yet again, trying to negotiate peace between Russia and Ukraine, and this time, the goal is to bypass a cease-fire and go straight for a deal to end the war. Alongside Trump’s meetings with the leaders of both countries were a number of questions about what could be on the table to bring peace.
In other news, there’s a brewing battle over redistricting. Texas is taking steps to redraw its congressional district map after the Supreme Court gave the green light, despite criticism that doing so could be considered discriminatory. This could see voters give Republicans an additional five seats. If people vote as expected, Republicans may go on to hold 30 House seats, with eight Democrats, in the Texas midterm election.
