Geoff Kitney has had 50 years in jouranlism but he probably didn't expect that a part of his time would be spent in Belgrade having to work out how to escape the capital of former Yugoslavia. He only got out once he secured a drive from organised crime king pin and Serbian war lord, Zeljko Raznatovic who was otherwise known as Arkan.
Kitney has seen significant events in Austalian politics and he was there in 1975 for the dismissal of the Whitlam government, This is important oral history from one of journalism's best.
He reflects on 50 years in journalism in a new book called Beyond the News Room published by Wilkinson Publishing.
