John du Pont was a failed Olympic hopeful who used his colossal family fortune to become wrestling’s biggest patron. By the early 1990s, John supported most of the elite wrestlers in the U.S., including the most famous of all: Dave Schultz. John was always known for being a little odd, but in 1995, his strange behavior took a dangerous turn.
