Originalism is a legal philosophy that the words in documents and especially the U.S. Constitution should be interpreted as they were understood at the time they were written by those that framed and ratified the Constitution and its various amendments. Many evangelicals have embraced a non-originalist approach to Scripture. It is little wonder, then, that like the retreating morality of the Western world since becoming unglued from its biblical worldview, the church also finds itself on foundations of quicksand as it tries to defend Christian values.

Recently CBC News released a story about a device made between 150 bc and 100 bc that was discovered in 1901 in a shipwreck off the Greek island of Antikythera. So, while there may not have been laptop computers on the Ark, this new find, for those without the veil of evolutionary thinking and ‘millions of years’ clouding their thoughts, highlights that the ancients were in no way more ‘primitive’ or less intelligent than we are today.

Accepted theories of evolutionary science say our Earth and our solar system formed about 4.6 billion years ago. On the other hand, the Bible implies Earth is only several thousand years old. Biblically, the Earth and the universe are roughly 6,000 years old. As the exploration of our solar system continues, more and more evidence is discovered that points to a young solar system, consistent with the time scale recorded in the Bible.

Leonardo Da Vinci was well known for his contributions to science, history, engineering, architecture, drawing and especially painting, with his most famous painting being the Mona Lisa. One of Leonardo’s drawings is causing a stir. Entitled ‘Cats, lions, and a dragon, drawn circa 1517–18’, you may begin to guess what the fuss is about.

Noah’s Flood matters. As the Church watches cultural collapse, a few Christians have begun to understand how pivotal Noah’s Flood was to this process and have begun trying to recover its historical reality to counter the forces of contemporary chaos. As we look at the implications of its importance, we see how it has become one of the most powerful historical narratives in human history.

The discovery of two “remarkably complete” flowers beautifully preserved in amber has excited experts. “These flowers looked like they had just fallen from a tree,” said Professor Poinar. When these amber fossils are considered in tandem with the many others in the scientific literature showing equally exquisite preservation, a ‘big picture’ emerges that is absolutely ‘deadly’ to evolutionary chronology and long-age ideas of amber fossil formation.

“Ever since researchers sequenced the chimp genome in 2005, they have known that humans share about 99% of our DNA with chimpanzees, making them our closest living relatives.” However, this is problematic because the chimp genome was not built from scratch. But even with this evolutionary bias, the actual differences are much bigger than 1%.

Even though the Bible makes it clear that all people are descended from Adam and Eve (so they must be very closely related), there are still misconceptions among some Christians surrounding ‘race’. Any concern has no basis in either science or the Bible. Science has finally caught up with God’s Word in affirming how very closely related we all are at the genetic level.

God is a God of order (c.f. 1 Corinthians 14:33), and we can easily see this in Scripture. Thoughts like this help us to understand that there is a normative order in nature and provides the basis for a pragmatic, practical use of science. So, our thought experiment has turned out unexpectedly optimistic! God has given us all the foundation we need in Scripture to do science and to test the claims of others who claim to be authorities. So where do we start?

Many people today hold to one or more conspiracy theories that, if they were to be consistent, require the world to be unreal, as we documented previously. Science advances as older, sometimes flawed ideas are challenged and replaced with better ideas. And the Bible allows for this, because, while it is not a science textbook, it gives us a framework and a mandate for science.

Imagine that humanity has emerged from the rubble of a nuclear holocaust. All the science textbooks are gone. Can you rebuild modern science from this starting point? It might seem counter-intuitive, but before we get to science, we need theology… Then, we would have everything we need to start our exploration of science.

In researching the more than 300 species of hummingbird, you will come across many claims such as: “Hummingbirds evolved to display unique adaptations and anatomy allowing them to survive.” Evolution cannot explain the appearance of the first bird, nor how a slow process of gradual adaptation brought about all the complex structural components needed to hover and extract vast amounts of energy from flowers, all with wonderful and awe-inspiring precision and beauty.

Over-engineering in nature is a problem for evolution. The problem for defenders of evolution, according to their own theory, is that an organism will possess only the attributes it needs to survive. But there are numerous examples already known of this—creatures which have been ‘over-equipped’ for environments they have never faced or which don’t exist naturally anywhere on Earth.

What is the impact of the creation account on Christology and, especially, Jesus’ death? Why did Jesus die, and what is the biblical sacrificial system?

We don’t find animals being rapidly buried in the oceans today. Well-preserved fossils point to catastrophe—to sudden death and burial before the animal was scavenged, scattered and obliterated. Well-preserved fossils are consistent with the unusual conditions associated with the global Flood of the Bible.

The Fermi Paradox is an application of the Copernican Principle to the realm of ‘astrobiology’ (which is defined as the search for, specifically, ‘the evolution of life’ in the universe). Since we are assumed to be in a non-special location in the Milky Way, and since we are assuming that evolution must be sufficiently probable to have occurred here on Earth, the question arises: where are aliens elsewhere?
