Welcome to Crann na Beatha Short Stories and Poetry for Nov. 17th, 2023
I am back again this week to your village with five scary stories for everyone. Sorry, no poems this time. I do have some for next week.
As always, I will get the advertising out of the way first before I start reading stories.
This once a week podcast is available to listen to in nearly every podcast platform out there. In the blog section of my web site, at Crann na beatha in Medium.com and now, Crann na beatha on YouTube.
My shows are free to subscribe to but I do have a donations tab on the rss.com webpage as seen in the link with the newsletter and on my website at www.crann-na-beatha.com. Think of it as passing the hat at the end of my visit to your digital village.
Disclosure for anyone listening on apps other than the link I provide in the Medium.com newsletter; In order to read the stories and poems, you will need to sign up for a subscription in Medium. And for today, I also have an environmental fiction story for you from a Substack writer, for which a subscription will be required in order to read it.
Even though I provide links to the stories and poems in the newsletters, the difficulty will be reading the complete stories and poems as they are paywalled by the authors and I have no control over that.
I decided to eliminate the Irish music at the end of the show this week because I am running into minor copyright issues in Russia and maybe a couple of other places over there. That, and I thought, maybe not everyone is as big a fan as I am of Irish music. If I get a massive response to bring it back, I will see what I can do.
And now, I present this week’s stories. If you want to hear the spooky sound effects, listen to the podcast.
Odysseus and the Oath of a Warrior
She had lived through life upon life — and for what?
Everybody has an inner demon
This story is from Substack and requires a subscription. He also has an eBook available for this story. I am posting episode 1 here, with the other two coming over the next two weeks.
A short story about love and loss
By TzeLin Sam
Sometimes, you just get sick of the neighbors…
I hope you enjoyed this week’s show. I try to offer everyone a variety of something here and maybe something that touches the heart a little at times.
Until next week. Sláinte
