There is a special place for pastors and pastoral authority in helping those wounded by abortion to both fully repent and to be fully restored. Often mingled guilt and grief leaves those wounded by abortion stuck in worldly sorrow. Here's why and how to help foster the godly sorrow leading to repentance, forgiveness and redemption.
1. Not everyone in your church has always been pro-life, and many have had abortions. If you think abortion hasn't happened to your people, you may be mistaken.
2. Abortion takes a toll in your community day by day. Check your local Department of Health and learn abortion impact in your neighborhood. Are you meeting your biblical mandate to rescue those being led away to death?
3. Those wounded by abortion need to hear a call to repentance and redemption. Silence can increase shame and destroy our true hope.
4. Offering healing can prevent more abortions. Practical strategies can add to an atmosphere of welcome in your church.
5. Screening for abortion grief can help with spiritual growth and provide true pastoral care.
