Ep 4242. Figuring It Out Is Overrated

In today's episode, I'm talking about the idea we have to figure it all out. While it's impossible to always figure everything out, I share some things I think I have figured out. I'll dive into how meaningful connections are, how cultivating consistency is key in life, and how important YOU are to you. Connection is your responsibility; how are you achieving connections in your life? I'm sharing a few studies about how keeping consistent routines helps to increase happiness. What is keeping you from being consistent? What is the fuel in your tank? What is motivating you? Taking care of yourself and focusing on yourself is important. Finding value in connection, consistency, and yourself will help you reach your goals and keep moving forward. Resources & Links:Cowgirls Over Coffee Podcast Episode 26: A Conversation about Communication with Terryn DrielingLearn more about Cowgirls Over Coffee Membership Community Connect with this week's Presenting Sponsor: Cattle Drive Leather Check out their websiteFollow on Instagram @cattledriveleather Connect with Thea and the community:Follow on Instagram @CowgirlsOverCoffee     Follow on Facebook @CowgirlsOverCoffee Make sure to hit subscribe/follow so you never miss a convo!

Ep 4141. August Transitions: Optimize Your Environment for Fall's Busy Season

I hope August has been treating you kindly so far! In today's episode, I'm talking about something that is top-of-mind for me right now. I've dedicated the month of August to transitioning. For me and our methodology inside the membership, fall is a season of progress. September can be a time for burnout and checking in with yourself. This is an action-oriented episode today. We're taking inventory of our environments and collecting data so we can make the next best decision. I'll guide you through an exercise that asks you to list ten spaces you spend the most time in. Then, you'll choose the top three that have the biggest impact on your time and list what you do in these spaces and how each space makes you feel. Next, you'll map out what you need to do to feel how you'd like and schedule a specific time on your calendar to make the necessary changes to reach that goal. We're cleaning up your environments to help you keep reaching goals with ease while feeling supported. As a reminder, enrollment for Cowgirls Over Coffee Membership ends today, August 19th. Ep 3939. Balancing Goals in Business, Farming & Family with Lexi Wright

Today's conversation is fitting as it will help us all as we go into a new season. My friend Lexi Wright is here to talk about balancing goals in business, farming, and family. Lexi has her own marketing agency, Back Pocket Social, a podcast called Farming on Purpose, and a new farm with a long list of needed projects. Lexi dives into the strategies that have changed her mindset on goal planning and execution. By cutting time into three sections, she has learned how to restructure and refocus to reach the goals that really matter and let go of the shame of when the little things don't get done. This method of goal planning alleviates setting yourself up for failure and gives the things you focus on purpose. Farming on Purpose is a podcast that brings together success stories from family farms and ranches and addresses industry trends so you can implement what works best for your operation.Back Pocket Social is a marketing agency specializing in social media, email marketing, and advertising for growing brands focused on excellent customer journeys.Resources & Links:Set the Tone WorkbookLearn more about Cowgirls Over Coffee Membership Community Connect with Thea and the community:Follow on Instagram @CowgirlsOverCoffee     Follow on Facebook @CowgirlsOverCoffee Make sure to hit subscribe/follow so you never miss a convo!

Ep 3838. Lessons from This Summer I’m Taking with Me into Fall

On today’s episode, I’m doing some reflection as we near the end of summer and look ahead to the next season. I’m sharing six lessons from this summer that have served me so well that I’m taking them into fall. Some of these things were intentionally cultivated, and some were unintentional, but the work I’ve done this summer on my foundations has me feeling so grounded and prepared to lean into what fall has to offer as I enter my season of progress. Resources & Links:FREE Set the Tone WorkbookLearn more about Cowgirls Over Coffee Membership CommunityJoin the Cowgirls Over Coffee Membership Community waitlist Connect with Thea and the community:Follow on Instagram @cowgirlsovercoffee      Follow on Facebook @cowgirlsovercoffeeMake sure to hit subscribe/follow so you never miss a convo!

Ep 3737. Navigating Your Own Expectations & Saying No... But, Yes

E

Nobody panic, but we’re almost through July! It’s the perfect time for this powerful conversation I had with Dakota Dawn Johnson in today’s episode. We’re talking about navigating our own expectations, and I want to encourage you to have this same conversation with the people in your life. What are your expectations for yourself?Dakota shares that while she’s always thinking about cowboys, kids, cattle, etc., she has to remind herself that we all have different buckets we’re navigating. She shares a visual of Dusti Crain-Dickerson while Roman Riding and how she’s in control and has the reins. So do we. We can change direction or expectations at any time. We talk about how saying “no” isn’t necessarily a hard no, but rather, you’re finding the right “yes” that fits with the season of life you’re in right now. Dakota shares a personal and recent story that shows how she went from responding “yes” on the spot to giving herself the space to be more intentional with her time. You can learn to say “no” to something but “yes” in other ways. Getting clear on your priorities so you know what the best things to say “no” and “yes” to are is important and will always be a work in progress for us all. When you choose to change expectations, different opportunities can arise. Ep 3636. The Dynamic Nature of Success & Accomplishment

E

Meg Scales is back for a conversation filled with life updates ranging from hay season and summer chaos to vulnerability about today’s topic. This episode is the next step in the conversation about quitting that we had a few weeks ago on the podcast. We know how we feel about quitting; the next questions are: What do success and accomplishment mean to us? And how have they changed in different seasons of life? Looking back at our younger years, we had different ideas, goals, and capacities of what accomplishment and success looked like, but they have shifted and grown as we have done the same. As we check in with ourselves, we don’t need to move forward with old narratives; everything can pivot as we experience more in life. Meg shares how academic drive was always a marker of success to her, but it’s now shifted to a curiosity for knowledge that helps her continue to grow. I share how, in a past season of life, being a CEO by 29 meant success. My definition of success was informed by my deep need for validation. Now, success means I want to feel contentment in the pursuit instead of assuming that the contentment will come from attainment. What does success look like to you? Ep 3535. Making Peace with What's Not Getting Done

We talk a lot about doing more of what matters in our planning. We look at what we have the capacity for, and we improve the way we do things. But what we omit during planning is looking at the things not getting done. Today's episode is about finding peace with the things we aren't doing. It's just as important to recognize them as the things we are getting done. I'll cover the two ways we don't get things done: on purpose and off purpose. On purpose is what we are choosing not to do. That entails intentionality and deliberate choices. Off purpose is when those things slip through the cracks, get buried, or we simply don't have the time or capacity to complete them. I encourage you to start making more margin and space to do what matters, which means we can look at what we haven't gotten done with some grace and perspective to make peace with it all. It doesn't mean we are good with not getting things done; it just means we're more present and grounded in the things we are getting done. Our FREE Set the Tone Workbook can help you navigate the practice of spending time on what matters. It is linked below! Ep 3434. You Think You Know, But You Have No Idea

E

Happy July! I love the first week of July, and it has me thinking more about using this summer season for priming, taking care of ourselves, being deliberate, and being present. I want us to take this season to set ourselves up for success. One reason I believe we all hit roadblocks in being successful is that we don't take the time to really look at ourselves, at what we're doing, and take inventory of what's going on in our lives. In this episode, I'm sharing tips and prompts to get you focused on figuring out who you are and determining if everything you're doing in your life aligns with who you are. Taking this deep dive into assessing your life is something you can develop into a daily practice. I want to encourage you to take this week to be super curious about yourself. Use the prompts I share to look at what you're doing daily, figure out why you are doing those things, and what really matters. Our priorities compete for attention, and a lot of them are equally important. Let's figure out what energizes you, motivates you, drives you. This will set us up for success as we continue the backside of 2024. A tool to help you with just that is our Set the Tone workbook, link below! Ep 3333. Pause and Breathe

Today’s episode is a little different, but I know you’ll enjoy it! As we are winding down June, I wanted to check in with you and make sure you’re prioritizing the foundation of core care. While it can seem overwhelming to take care of yourself, I encourage you to choose just one thing to work on to improve your well-being. Breathwork is a great practice that will give you intentionality and presence. In this episode, I’m sharing a recorded session with Kelsey Larson, a breathwork expert, held in our Cowgirls Over Coffee membership earlier this month. Kelsey teaches different techniques to use as you introduce your body, mind, and soul to breathwork. She shares ideas for both you and your children to help regulate the nervous system. Ep 3232. How Do You Feel About Quitting?

Are you ever laying in bed at night thinking you’re ready to quit everything and burn it all down? In today’s episode Meg and I are talking about the ways we quit on ourselves and in our lives. How do we know what to intentionally quit? What things are we quietly quitting? Why does the action of and even the word quitting make us so uncomfortable? This conversation includes all sides of quitting including that it’s okay to not be okay with quitting. The name of the game is balance and today’s episode goes in depth on aligning activities with priorities, checking in with yourself, and embracing the pivot so as to not quit on ourselves. Ep 3131. Speaking of Summer ...

Meg and I are back to talk about how we want to go into this summer season with a new mindset. In today’s episode we cover the importance of making a plan for your summer by setting deliberate intentions and realistic expectations. We want to alleviate the grief we can feel as summer slips away and we haven’t accomplished what we had hoped. Meg shares her planning process: instead of looking at what everyone else needs this summer, asking herself what she needs and reverse engineering the plan from there. I share how my summer planning entails scheduling things I want to do in ways that are easier to get them accomplished. Join the conversation so your summer planning can include what is important to you, how you want to feel, and what experiences you want to curate for yourself. Ep 3030. You Don't Have to Catch Up

In today’s episode I wanted to have a one-on-one conversation with you about an epiphany I had that has alleviated stress and anxiety from my life. It’s a simple strategy, but makes a big impact when we truly believe it: you don’t have to catch up. Start where you’re at and go from there; you don’t have to back track. Think about the time and effort you’ll save if you don’t go backwards and instead dive in where you can and keep going forward. The thought of having to catch up can overwhelm and lead to no action. Taking action helps create momentum and provides clarity to keep you going. And when there are things in your backlog, you can then intentionally and deliberately create space in your calendar to complete what you can. This strategy is a game changer! Ep 2828. Protect Your Time, Energy & Attention with this Simple Strategy

Today our conversation dives deep into a strategy we teach in Cowgirls Over Coffee called “The Umbrella Focus”. Lana and I share how using this strategy allows us to manage our priorities that are aligned with how we’re feeling and what is most important. The Umbrella Focus helps us prepare for what’s coming by sorting things into priorities and objectives while alleviating the guilt and shame of things outside of the umbrella that purposefully won’t get done right now. So many things derail us from feeling productive or meeting our expectations on long-term goals because we’re not giving ourselves permission to prioritize different things at different times. Imagine waking up at 2am and everything on your to-do list immediately floods your head … then, you close your eyes, lay your head back down and drift back to sleep. There’s no self-doubt or doom spiral, because you are confident that your to-do list is aligned with both your daily demands and long-term ambitions, and tomorrow will take care of itself. Ep 2626. A Conversation about Communication with Terryn Drieling

Today we have Terryn Drieling, a rural relationship guide and founder of the Good Movement Collective, a coaching program and community for rural women looking for growth and guidance in confidence, self-awareness, and communication. Our ranching/rural lifestyle is unique but has specific challenges as our lives are so integrated with family, friends, and coworkers. That means communication can be an obstacle and something we’ve overlooked culturally and collectively. But it’s the foundation of everything from your ranch operation to your marriage, so how do we get better at communication? Terryn shares her background of what she learned in stockmanship with “good movement draws good movement” and how she applies it to human relationships. You’ll hear what Terryn finds are some of the biggest hurdles to good communication as well as tips to drive better communication. Her framework breaks down self-awareness and social-awareness and that as relational beings, we need community. How can you come across curious instead of critical during communication?
