And Joan wanted to add to the question "What do you say to someone who says I don't go to operas?"
There are exquisite moments of beauty in opera where the singer and the orchestra and the set and costumes come together. People come back for that one aria, like you might go to a concert for your one favorite song. Or you might head to an art gallery to visit one painting. The beauty of the moment is enormously memorable for you.
Opera has those moments. Moments you never forget and will remember as beautiful forever.
