THIS IS AN ANNA WITH 2Ns EPISODE BEFORE I REBRANDED TO CONFIDENT BUSINESS ENGLISH. I RECOMMEND STARTING WITH THE MOST RECENT CONFIDENT BUSINESS ENGLISH EPISODES.
So many of my students tell me they are SO SCARED to ask questions in meetings. They sit there wanting to ask a question in English but instead of doing it they stay silent and send email afterwards!
Let's try and break that cycle today and look at how to ask indirect questions in a meeting. Why indirect questions? Well, because we use these a lot in formal meetings when we want more information but want to ask in a polite and professional.
However, there are are some REALLY IMPORTANT rules to follow because they do not have the same structure as direct questions.
We are going to talk about these 5 indirect questions:
- Do you have any idea…
- Do you know…
- I was wondering…
- I’d like to know…
- Could you tell me…
